Skiing

There are 17 miles of loop trails with varying degrees of difficulty.  The Green and Purple Loops are the easiest terrain with approximately 2.0 miles, the Blue Loop is intermediate terrain with approximately 5.8 miles and the Black Loop is advanced terrain with approximately 7.0 miles.  When there is snow, there is a 2.5 mile lighted loop. An area ski club and places offers skiing lessons. There is a blacktopped, Plantation Path, accessible trail for wheelchairs.  The Ice Age Trail also crosses through the park. Go to YouTube Video

During the snow season, the 2.5 mile lighted loop is lit Monday through Saturday until 9:00 pm. The park closes at 5 pm on Sundays.

Wheel and Sprocket of Delafield will provide rentals for striding and skate skis as well as shoeshoes  at the Ski Hut building located on the road to Evergreen Parking Lot. Hours are Tues., Wed., and Thurs. from 4 pm to 9 pm, Sat. from 9 am to 9 pm and Sun. from 9 am to 5 pm. Rentals are also available at the store. Bicycle Doctor in Dousman also rents equipment.

The Wednesday Ski League holds races for elementary school, high school and adult participants will be held January 6 through February 10, 2016. Elementary school races begin at 6:45, high school at  7:00 p.m. and adult races begin at 7:40 p.m. View the 2017 Wednesday Nite Ski League Registration for adults and the 2017 Junior Nordic Ski Series Registration for elementary through high school participants.

Cost is $7.00 per race for one lap of the lighted ski trail for adults (or $40.00 for the series) and $5.00 for students. Bib numbers are provided; return the bib after each race. Points are given for each race.  State Park parking sticker and a trail pass are required.

      Lapham Loppet picThe 2016 Loppet Brochure  is an 11K ski race suitable as a Birkie warm-up race due to the hilly terrain on the outer loop of the trail system.  A 6K race is also held for middle school and high school participants, omitting the two steepest hills on the course.

The Peak Nordic Ski Club has a program for children kindergarten through high school.

For adults, consider Peak Nordic Masters.
