Skiing
| There are 17 miles of loop trails with varying degrees of difficulty. The Green and Purple Loops are the easiest terrain with approximately 2.0 miles, the Blue Loop is intermediate terrain with approximately 5.8 miles and the Black Loop is advanced terrain with approximately 7.0 miles. When there is snow, there is a 2.5 mile lighted loop. An area ski club and places offers skiing lessons. There is a blacktopped, Plantation Path, accessible trail for wheelchairs. There are two ski events. Every Wednesday for six week starting in January, snow permitting, there is the Wednesday Night Ski League for elementary school, high school and adult participants. Elementary school races begin at 6:45, high school at 7:00 p.m. and adult races begin at 7:40 p.m.
Cost is $7.00 per race for one lap of the lighted ski trail for adults and $5.00 for students. Bib numbers are provided; however, remember to return the bib after each race. Points are given for each race. A $20.00 yearly or $4.00 daily trail pass and $25.00 yearly or $7.00 day State Park parking sticker are required. For more information contact the Race Director.

The Lapham Loppet is an11K ski race suitable as a Birkie warm-up race due to the hilly terrain on the outer loop of the trail system. A 6K race is also held for middle school and high school participants, omitting the two steepest hills on the course.
The Peak Nordic Ski Club has a program for children kindergarten through high school.
