Snowmaking
The Lapham Peak Friends, in cooperation with the DNR and community businesses, have embarked on an ambitious project to bring snow-making capabilities to the ski trails at Lapham Peak Unit of the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest. When completed, the application of man-made snow will extend the ski season and improve the quality of the snow base for the trail users.
DONATIONS ARE NEEDED! Check with your employer for a program that matches funds for a 501C (3) (nonprofit) organization. Read the snowmaking letter for more detail about the project. View our phase 3 snowmaking brochure.

During the winter, when snow is present, Lapham Peak is one of the busiest, if not the busiest, park in the Wisconsin State Park System. Known for its challenging terrain and excellent ski trail grooming, the park enjoys a regional reputation that draws large numbers of skiers from the Milwaukee and Madison metro areas, as well as from Chicago and northern Illinois. The park is the only unit in the state park system to offer lighted ski trails.
