Volunteer opportunities that you can help with include:

  • Adopt-A-Trail – maintain a one mile section on the Glacial Drumlin Trail from Wales Trailhead to the former 18 West Restaurant (west of Hwy 83 and Hwy 18 intersection)
  • Hausmann Nature Center – volunteer on weekends first weekend in June through end of October 1:00-4:00 pm
  • Bake for events –  Lapham Loppet, Candlelight Ski/Hike, or Colorama
  • Donate food items – apples, oranges, desserts
  • Bike Swap – help at bike corral fitting bikes for patrons
  • Butterfly garden maintenance – weed control
  • Bluebird monitoring
  • Candlelight Ski/Hike event is the last Saturday in January  – park vehicles, light candles, assist at food donation table inside Trecker Lodge
  • Colorama Run/Walk is the first Saturday in October – help at a water stop, registration/t-shirt distribution
  • Nordic Ski Series are seven Wednesdays in January and February – registration, collecting bibs outside, timing
  • Lapham Loppet is the third Saturday in January – registration, collecting bibs outside, timing
  • Buckthorn and invasive species (i.e., honeysuckle) removal (Buckthorn Busters)
  • Prairie Restoration includes removing invasive species and gathering & collecting seeds
  • Snowmaking Committee – fundraising and events
  • Trail Maintenance (i.e., spreading wood chips, removing loose rocks)
  • Work Day/Trail clearing is held in spring and fall
